Billions behind: NPS laments backlog of deferred maintenance

Performing backlogged maintenance on infrastructure at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park would cost $5.67 million. Up the road at Curecanti National Recreation Area, the tab is pushing $10 million, and, systemwide, such “deferred maintenance” is nearly $11.5 billion among all National Park Service properties.
